Selection Process for Board Directors
Following
initial contact and informal discussion with the Chief Executive
Officer, candidates for the role of Board Director will enter into
a selection process that includes, but is not limited to, the
following:

Prospective candidates will be sent an information pack
including:
-
Candidates may make further contact with CEO to clarify any
queries
-
If candidates wish to proceed, they
are asked to prepare
and submit a written expression of interest that addresses
following:
-
Personal Contact details.
-
Demonstrate personal and professional alignment with SJCS’s
stated purposes, values and objectives.
-
Provide an overview of professional background and academic
qualifications with particular focus upon matters which may be
relevant to the role of Board Director with this organisation.
-
Describe the unique attributes and skills that will enable you
to fulfil governance responsibilities.
-
Declaration that you are not precluded from Board Membership
by specifications of Associations Incorporations Act Section
30 (See page 28 of ‘Information for Candidates’ booklet).
-
Name and contact details for two relevant and objective
referees.
-
An indication of your availability for six weekly Board
meetings and participation in Board task groups.
-
Formal expressions of interest will be reviewed by a
Recruitment Task Group (RTG) of the Board.

Short-listed Candidates may be invited to an interview with
the RTG
-
All applications will be considered with reference to:
-
‘Desirable Attributes of Board Directors’ (see Information
for Candidates) and
-
Consideration of how each candidate may contribute to the
balance of knowledge, skills and experience of existing
Board Directors, the BRTG will make recommendation(s) to
the Board.

The Board, which will make final appointment(s).

Candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application
-
Board endorsed candidates will be provided with formal
induction to both the organisation and Board.
Special
Notes:

Final confirmation of candidate appointment will be subject to
satisfactory police history and referee checks.

Board Director appointments are made on a voluntary basis.

The Board
(Note: Board Meetings are
normally held on a six weekly basis)Currently
held 6-8pm on Thursday evenings.

Board meeting times and locations are subject to periodic
review.
